Project Announcements Lang Associates, a Division of Clark Dietz, Inc., has been selected to provide mechanical, electrical, security, and technology design services for the new Armed Forces Reserve Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The Center is a joint forces project between the Division of State Facilities, the Department of Military Affairs, and the National Guard Bureau. The project will comply with Governor Doyle’s Executive Order 145 requiring the design of the facility meet or exceed 30% more energy efficiency than code. Sustainable design concepts will be incorporated into the project to achieve LEED “Silver” level. The project represents a $39 million investment in military infrastructure. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation recently selected Lang Associates to conduct a study to determine feasibility of remote operation and complete the design for rehabilitation and automation of three movable bridges over the Fox River in Green Bay, Wisconsin. These structures include the Mason Street Bridge, Walnut Street Bridge, and the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge. Lang Associates has teamed with Barr Engineering (Minnesota) in providing mechanical/process design services for a new iron ore concentrator plant. The project is being constructed for Ferrominera located in northeast Venezuela. Design is being completed under the direction of Duro Felquera, a Spanish engineering and construction firm responsible for overall design and construction of the $500 million facility. The concentrator will process low-grade iron ore for Venezuela’s expanding steel industry.
